My Old mate Naka mixing it up.
While film stock is moving way to digital , and post colouring of digital already in a rut. A Professional Cinematographer is left with the choice of 4 or 5 digital sensors as first port of call to set the ”look” of the image . Fortunately what we put in front of that sensor can really set us apart and bring character back to our picture with the right lens choice. Ive been fortunate enough to use a few Cookes when i had film cameras , they are full of personality tack sharp yet somehow easy on the eye with skins and edge contrast. It makes me feel hopeful for cinema when i see the likes of Cooke still pushing for new ground in this field . While the Dslr gurus feed the mass’s of new school film makers with red ring canon porn there are still plenty of us out here that remember cinema glass .
Check out what the Cooke guys have been up to. …
Fashion shoot film for Elmc , I had a few hours to put some shots together for Gary Eastmans new Brand for the website launch . Something Dirty , gritty with a road movie feel was the brief . So i just shot lyrical then made a cut to go off for the score by Arboretum . Really enjoyed the process on this one . Nice people to work with .
Glad to have been a part of this Movember project .
Mid summer brought a nice commission from Jack Johnson’s Brushfire records . To Make 11 Live performance videos for Cornwall’s Own Neil Halstead, from his new Album Palindrome Hunches. A songsmith of the highest caliber . I’d listened to the album days after its recording still in its raw form, the final release has lost non of its magic , one song that really stands out for me is “Tied to You” I think instrumentally its safe to say the ghosts of Jansch , Drake and J C frank have surfaced from Neil and the lyric seems to be a exorcism of uncomfortably dark atmospheres . Although it could have been easy to just take it as a hit a run Job I treated it with the same respect I would any official music video. 4 locations for 4 groups of songs to make up the total of 11 . The locations where simple but well considered hopefully bringing something to the songs performances . Second Unit and the ever Professional Andrew “Adj” Brown supported me on the aquisition . I gave each set a different post color treatment . For the woods stuff in particular I went for the look of Nick Drakes Five leaves left album and his greatest hits album, hopefully bringing even more recognition to “tieds” influences. Neil’s Currently touring the new album in the states and upon return we are hoping to get an official “Tied” video off the ground in the can with the help of a few more of the Lorien Creative Group . Enjoy the link and watch this space . xx
For me a human that has mastered riding waves shows an abundance of mindfulness and clarity or mental space in the moment they are in. All the anxiety has left and just expression of the ride remains . HERE

Neil Halstead asked me to do a Live Video for his track on The Brushfire Christmas Album. We went for a warm simple shoot , took Andrew Brown and myself a couple of hours to set things up and Neil just sat down and nailed it. Love this Song. Home For the Season.
